Most likely originated as a backlash to the Atkin's craze. Carbohydrates are actually a GOOD thing. So if someone "busts" them, that would be bad.

A person who eats carbs when hanging out with friends or to feel integrated into social situations. Social carbing means eating carbs occasionally and almost always in groups – often while drinking alcohol. Similar to social smoking, only with carbohydrates.
