Knockers

The Knocker, Knacker, or Tommyknocker is a mythical, subterranean, gnome-like creature in Cornish and Devon folklore. Its Welsh counterpart is the coblynau. The name “knockers,” pronounced “knackers,” comes from the knocking on the mine walls that often happens just before cave-ins. Known for stealing miner's tools they can also be benevolent helping to warn miners of impending collapse.

The miners wouldn't go into the mine until the mining company assured them the Tommy Knockers were on duty.

To selfishly harm anything someone might care about because that attention is not being directed at you. This is then followed by alternating periods of pretending to know nothing of the event or being dramatically apologetic, Neither of which are true.

I'm not sure if he's a narcissist but his knockel abilities are world class.
