Cup monkey

People, usually kids, running around Festival venues collecting plastic or paper cups to return them and get a cash refund. Normally spotted with unbelievably high stacks that they somehow are able to carry. Some can over enthusiastically try and take cups before you’ve actually finished! Great way though to tackle litter collection and recycling!

There’s loads of cup monkeys snatching your beer before you’ve even had the chance to finish it!

Squirrels are known to enjoy monkey nuts, which are basically peanuts in their shells. The shells provide a bit of a challenge for the squirrels to crack open and get to the tasty peanut inside. It's like a fun snack and a puzzle for them at the same time!

Sign-off monkey

A person who has a steady, reasonably-paid job that involves upholding standards who is happy to add their signature to any wrong or unethical thing that their employer asks them to sign off. Some examples might be a careless employees working as an Environmental Officer in a local government authority, a Social Worker in an under-staffed Department of Community Services or a Safety Officer at a mine site.

The last person in this position was just a sign-off monkey so for the first couple of months I was mostly sorting out problems.
