A game played in Harlem in which teams try to grab an object and get back to base without being tagged.
Teams line up, facing one another, about 30 feet apart. The object (e.g. a stick) is placed at the mid-point between the two lines. A "caller" stands to the side and calls out players by number, by odds or evens, or "all in" and the designated players run to the middle, each trying to STEAL THE BACON (grab the stick) and run back to their line without being tagged by an opposing player. Hours of fun.

Get the steal thundermug. First used in Kurt Vonnegut's book, Breakfast of Champions, this phrase means roughly, "to take a leak."

Get the steal a mirrormug. An evasive maneuver, intentional, dangerous, and often illegal in a motor vehicle. Steals are made in order to save time, to gain a more favorable position, or just because you are impatient. Steals must be completed without causing an accident, bodily harm, property damage, and without getting the attention of law enforcement. (Completion of a steal is followed by a fist bump if you are in the company of others).
Making steals would include making an illegal left turn during rush hour traffic across a 3-lane highway without causing an accident.
