koRn is a band that has led to a revolution of metal. Back in the 90's metal was getting old and dull. koRn emerged from...uh...bakersfield and broke that chain of music. they use their guitars in drop D to make the sound heavy. this band has been set to lead the Freaks of society to musical salvation. The band recently was dropped by Brian Head Welch and is now only 5 members.

No, Korn is NOT a "band for 13-15 year old gothic kids who smoke weed in their back yard."
1) Adults listen to Korn
2) Why do you have to label us as 'goths' just because we like the colour black. Labels are for soup cans, not for people
3) I don't smoke weed and I love korn so you can bugger off.
In terms of an actual definition, Korn started as a metal band in 1994 with their self titled album. personally, I don't like it as much as some of their other abums but it's apparently one of the best. Other albums include Follow the Leader, Life is Peachy, Untouchables, Issues and Take a Look in the Mirror. (Yhese might be in the wrong order and I'm sorry for that....) They are also releasing a greatest hits album and have now released See You On The Other Side which, in my opinion, is the best album yet. It is brilliant. They are kick ass live.
Described as Linkin Park, but heavier. This is only true in some sense.
Their style has been copied very often, but I still think that they're the only ones who can pull it off that well.
Are currently one band member short because he left to lead a full religious Christian life. It's a shame, that...

Boy: I'm going to a Korn concert. I'd invite you along, but I think that you won't like the screaming. Maybe you should stay up and do your nails or something.
Me: *raises eyebrows.* You don't have to invite me along. I bought my own tickets as soon as they were released.
Boy: You like them?
Me: Duh. In case you hand't notice, the sexist days of 'boys listen to metal and girls listen to britney spears' is well and truly over. Piss off.

A nu-metal band, most popular in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Famous for their legions of highly-defensive fans who write long screeds assuring the world that they (the fans) are not goths, poseurs, thirteen years old, suburban kids, wannabes, Hot Topic shoppers, stoners, or otherwise useless globs of angst and conformity; and that the band is, or is not, "nu-metal", "hardcore", "mainstream", "tru-metal", "alternative metal", or any number of other meaningless, media-created subgenres used to further divide "the consumers" into more-specific (and thus, more easily marketed to) categories.
"Hey, did you read the Urban Dictionary entry on KoRn?"
"Yeah, I did. Jeez, are they defensive much? I mean, you can get info about the band, sure...but you've gotta click thru pages and pages of 'OMG i aM nOt a HotTopic goTh waNNabE!!!!!! and N E way KoRn iz NOT 'nu-metal bcuZ...' It's easier to just go to Wikipedia."

Band reigning from Bakersfield, CA that formed in 1993. Contrary to popular belief that Korn created nu-metal, they merely popularized a genre that was already appearing in the late 80's. The members of the band are:
- Jonathan Davis (Vocals/Bagpipes)
- James "Munky" Shaffer (Lead/Rhythm Guitar)
- Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu (Bass)
- David Silveria (Drums)
- Ex-member Brian "Head" Welch (Lead Guitar)
They have released seven full-legnth albums to date. Chronologically, they are:
- Korn (1994)
- Life Is Peachy (1996)
- Follow The Leader (1998)
- Issues (1999)
- Untouchables (2002)
- Take A Look In The Mirror (2003)
- See You On The Other Side (2005)
Fans of Korn are often categorized as stupid mallcore teens who don't know metal for shit. I disagree with this. While a few fans of Korn might be, I think the majority of them like metal in all its forms, myself included. I never understood what metalheads are trying to accomplish by saying Korn sucks. If they're hoping Korn will stop because of it, all I have to say is "HAHA...no..." If they're hoping that the fans will stop listening, then that's stupid, why do you care what we listen to? It appeals to us musically, does that mean we are forbidden to listen to the gods of metal like "Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Black Label Society, etc."? No, it shouldn't

Korn Fan: Korn rocks man.
Metalhead: Dude why do you listen to nu metal? It sucks.
Korn Fan: Because it sounds good. Why do you hate it so much?
Metalhead: It makes legends like Dimebag look bad.
Korn Fan: But it sounds good.
Metalhead: Whatever...I shouldn't care what you listen to.

Nu Metal band from Bakersfield, California. In there early years Korn's music was rooted in Funk Metal but over the years this influence has started to lessen. There first album wasn't immediatly succesful but due to constant touring Korn started to develope a cult like fanbase.
There sophmore album was a more immediate success debuting at #3 on the billboard charts. 1998's Follow The Leader and 1999's Issues were hugely popular albums but the bands popularity has been fading since although they still sell a very large amount of albums by most standards.
Korn, in retrospect, are considered one of the most influenctial bands of the 90s and are oftened considered the ones that started the entire Nu metal scene.
Jonathan Davis has said he does not consider Korn Nu Metal or Metal, and that if he had to label the band he would call Korn "Hard Rock". However, Munky feels it's a functional term for the band.
Vocalist: Jonathan Davis
Lead/Rhythm Guitar - James "Munky" Shaffer
Rhythm/Lead Guitar - Brian "Head" Welch
Bass Guitar: Reggie "Fieldy" Arizu
Drums: David Silveria

A band that was formed in 1993 in Bakersfield, California, and emerged with their first album "KoRn" in 1994. The album was a hit in the metal world, as no one had heard anything like it ever before. They have since realised 7 other studio albu,s : Life is Peachy, Follow the Leader, Issues, Untouchables, Take a Look in the Mirror, See You on the Other Side, and an Untitled album. Unfortunately for KoRn, several other trash bands like Slipknot and Limp Bizkit tried to copy their sound, and gave KoRn a band Nu-Metal rep.
Line Up:
Jonathan Davis - Lead Vocals - A really unique singer with the ability to reach many different vocal ranges. He can also scream/scat, as well as play the bagpipes.
Munky - Ex-rythm/Present lead guitarist - Munky is a guitarist that tries, and tries very very hard. Although not containing the best technical skill, he does his best with what talent he has and creates some really catchy riffs (aka evolution).
Fieldy - Bassist - Although at one time probably the worst bassist in the music industry, Fieldy has really matured his sound and style and pioneered the slap-bass technique. You can really hear his skill in songs like "Here to Stay" and "Got the Life".
I am not going to both mentioning Head and David as they are no longer a part of KoRn...
Now for a more personal note. I love KoRn.
No, I am not some 12 year old kid with an attitude problem, No, I do not like Slipknot. KoRn is a band, whether or not you think they are metal, is your opinion, but like it or not, they are huge, and sell out concerts all over the world. The common misconception is that KoRn is pussy metal, or whatever the fuck you want to call it. These statements are made by ignorant people who have a) never listened to them - and - b) followed the crowd with the rest of their "true-metal" friends. My question to them is, what is "True Metal"? Metallica, Slayer? I listen to all of that, and if "True-metal" is heavy stuff like that, then black sabbath and led zeppelin arent true metal...and they are the reason metal is alive today...
Case and point, dont judge a band you dont know anything about, because your bands get trashed by people too, and dont tell me it doesnt annoy you. Accept the fact that other people like other music, and dont act the badass because you like death metal or hardcore....
Yes urban dictionary, this was mainly made to silence the shitheads who have nothing better to do than dis my music.

"True" metal head : Dude KoRn sucks why do you listen to them, only little kids like that trash.
Me: obviously not...have you ever even listened to their music...?
"True" metal head : I dont have to, I just know they suck.
Me: Thats kind of ignorant...no?
