A trope common in fiction and fanfiction. It is the phenomenon where a group of people come to love each other like family, even through (and because) they aren't biologically related. The LGBTQ+ community in particular tends to favor this trope because it allows them to escape overbearing or harmful biological family.
Found families can be found in real-life as well, as close friend groups may feel closer to each other than to biological family.

Alternately used in place of "and then I found five dollars" because finding twenty dollars is rewarding enough while still being in the parameters of seeming like you really found something. Saying "and then I found one hundred dollars" sounds too fake and thus brings down the sarcastic tone you're trying to get across to the person because their story was so boring. Finding anything less than twenty dollars isn't really that rewarding.
