Military Slang. When two or more enemies have more than enough nuclear weapons to destroy each other.
The war between Brikstan and Belgrave hit the point where Mutual Assured Destruction was confirmed on the news.

when a couple (only looking for a fling) have sex without a condom! they're both fucked.......likewise!

A situation in which two states have enough weapons (typically nuclear) to ensure that should one launch an attack the other would be able to respond in a strong enough way to destroy the attacker. Both would be destroyed.
This situation is supposed to prevent either side from launching such an attack.
The Cold War between the USA and the USSR in the 20th Century is an example of such a situation.

The state of being in which two people both cock block each other into the friend zone even though they are both attracted to and want to be with each other.
They are then relegated to the state of perpetual friend zone with much regret yet they never know what it is that they failed to achieve.
Thus these two attractive people are forced to for ever interact and want yet not connect.

Bob and Anna MAFZ’d each other on Saturday; it was painful to watch. Mutually Assured Friend Zone (MAFZ)for the win.
