How's tricks?

As others have stated, an informal greeting meaning "Hello, how are you?". But the true spelling should be Trix (with a capital T) because of its origin, which no one seems to know: It was (still) an informal greeting, started in the early 20th century; but the entire phrase was "How are Trixie and the kids?"... basically asking how one's family was doing. Trixie was short for Beatrix, or Beatrice (a popular female name of the era) and came to be known as slang for "the wife". Over time the phrase was shortened to simply "How's Trix?"

"Hey Rob, long time no see. How's tricks?" ... "Doing well Joe, thanks." (Incorrectly spelled there on purpose to satisfy UD - use Trix)

Trickin

1) To spend money you don't have on clothes, jewlery, cars, etc to appear to be ballin when your really not.

2) When a playa who lives in the hood with his momma drives a Cadillac and wears a carat in his ear that was paid for by his job at McDonalds and/or his momma's welfare check. Mostly in an attempt to impress his friends and girls.

Look at that fool trickin, drving around in that Cadillac when everbody know he flips burgers.

Trickle Down Town

Any type of make-shift community comprised of tents or shanties and populated by those that have been evicted, foreclosed on and/or forced into homelessness due to the down turn of the economy caused by the policies started in the Reagan administration and carried on by both Bush administrations.

The tent city populated by the recent homeless in CA is an example of a Trickle Down Town.
