The LK-99 Effect

In July 2023 a copper and lead based supposed room temperature super-conductor, a material that could revolutionize technology, was proposed by a Korean laboratory, and this lead to a scramble of informal publications by authors from that laboratory trying to claim the work and some quitting their jobs. LK-99 was a dud. This process of prominent scientists losing their sh*t over something which most others in their field believe isn't true while the public is riding the hype train is referred to in some circles as "The LK-99 Effect".

The rumor is that Sam Altman was fired from OpenAI because of his believes about a artificial general intelligence. This is a clear example of the LK-99 Effect

The Singing Dog Effect

The Singing Dog Effect is named for a musical artist in the furry fandom who uses the tagline in their songs. It describes the phenomenon that musicians in the furry fandom are just as capable of creating good music as those outside of the community, but when the song is explicitly about furry culture it is often regarded as not as good as their other work.

Caramel: "Did you hear Nondistinct Furry Band's new song?"

The Exotical Effect

This term refers to the lived experiences of most Exoticals (whether Dark-Skinned, Brown-Skinned, or Light-Skinned);

'Exoticals' attract admiration, but they also stir up envy/jealousy in others, whatever room they walk into;

The effects of a pretty, wealthy, talented, or successful 'Exotical' person;

The impact or influence that an 'Exotical' person has on another person, a group of people, or an entire nation;

When societal changes are made due to an 'Exotical' person's presence;

When an 'Exotical' exerts his or her privilege(s).
