Mumble-brag

The reflex to underplay or minimize something that's actually worth the brag and more. Unlike the humblebrag (which is false modesty dressed up as self-awareness), the mumble-brag is quieter and a bit self-deprecating. It's preemptive dimming.

She started her own agency but said she had just taken on a few more team members. Classic mumble-brag.
