When you are in a public restroom and feel the need to rip a fart and know that everyone will be listening so you grab a wad of toilet paper and hold against your anus to muffle the sound.

Muffle/Muffled- As I sat in the public restroom I heard the deep breathing of the person in the next stall. I knew a big fart was coming and had to do something quick. I grabbed a wad of toilet paper right before I blew and muffled the noise by the cheaply made paper my finger goes through.
