tinfoil hat

Propoganda designed to cover up a massive government conspiracy. Begining in the late 1970's, the United States government tried to cover up its radio-wave thought-control program by circulating a false rumor that people could shield their minds from government intrusion by wearing a tinfoil hat. In truth, a tinfoil hat only improves reception and makes it easier for the government to read your mind. Speak truth to power!

Take off that tinfoil hat, you fool, the black helicopters are coming!

In a similar style to president trumps 2016 red MAGA hat, 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang's blue MATH hat has become a symbol of him and his supporters, the YangGang who have started using the blue hat emoji in their twitter usernames to aid in quickly identifying each other.

all hat, no cattle

Originally used in reference to people imitating the fashion or style of cowboys. These people wore the hats, but had no experience on the ranch -- thus, all hat, no cattle. Similar to talking the talk without walking the walk (which was originally used in reference to wanabe gunslingers).

Roger says he's a great cook, but he sliced his thumb off trying to peel a potato. He's all hat, no cattle.

A grey hat is some one with a mixture of black and white hat experience. Usually, a grey hat is someone who performs network security or system security analysis for organizations.

BOB the grey hat will scan your webserver for vulnerabilities for x amount of $. When he gets home he will reverse engineer microsoft products using stolen windows code.
