Popularity Swing

Can be used to define when the popularity of a product or service gains momentum to another product due to the hype being switched over.
John: I'm using myspace right now it's the best.
Joe: No, you should use facebook because everyone is using that now.
John: Since everyone is using that I guess I will switch over then.

If people switch from Call of Duty to Battlefield 3 there is a popularity swing because all of their friends are playing that one game.

A common event that occurs on famous people, of which transform into horrible criminal monsters that use their popularity to exploit, rape, and even sexually harass others in a way that basically makes them seem immune to the federal law of their respective country.
If you exploit others because you are famous, you have experienced Popularity Corruption.

False Popularity

False popularity is the illusion of being popular. This is when supporters do not actually believe in the person/thing they seem to be supporting. This is often caused by the supporters feeling forced or as if they have to support someone.
*Photos*on*Facebook* "LIKE AND SHARE IF YOU LOVE GOD; KEEP SCROLLING IF YOU WANT TO BURN IN HELL". This makes most people feel like they have to like and share the photo, thus making this false popularity.
