The pronunciation of the word "psience" is identical to the pronunciation of the word "science" making it impossible for the listener to distinguish which word the speaker used.

The psience suggested that DDT was safe enough to be sprayed directly onto children from 1947 until 1972 when it was found to be toxic to humans.
