Like a fox

A phase made popular by The Simpsons (like a lot of things).

Homer refers to being "Stupid like a fox" which is a play on the term "Crazy like a fox", a phase coined in 1944 by humourist S.J. Perelman as the title of a book.

Crazy like a fox means an act that appears foolish but is actully shrewd and cunning. An example of this would be turning down a seemingly good deal, knowing that they will counter with a better one.

Another way to say "Like hell you are!!"

When are denied certain privilages or rights.

It's just fun to say!
Kid: Hey mom! I'm going to the mall with my friends!

Mom: Like fun you are!!!!!!

Kid: um...yeah. That's kinda the point. We're gonna eat and go see a movie.

Mom: Like fun you are!!!!!!!!!!

Kid: Oh right, that means no...right?

Mom: Damn Skippy!

Kid: So I'm not going?

like mending roads in summertime 

Used to describe any untimely or unnecessary expenditure of effort or money.

Adapted from Shakespeare (Merchant of Venice), and in that day roads were in far better shape during the summer months, so mending roads in summertime was considered redundant.
Guy 1: "I'd better review for my phsychology exam"

Guy 2: "Study for a class that easy? That's like mending roads in summertime!"
