The person left with the bigger piece supposedly gets their wish fulfilled.
There was a novelty song in the 1940's with the line, beans have no wishbones, chiddi-buck-choo. It was very silly and that silliness caused me to remember it from my largely misspent childhood. Indeed, beans, not being animals, have no bones at all, let alone wishbones.
