The Narcissistic "Smirk"

The look daughter in laws and son in laws have surely seen from their toxic in laws. Usually, you'll catch them glaring at you with this smirk after they've completely insulted you. Always making sure to slip the smirk in when nobody is watching. You're now the only one who has caught the smirk and if you bring it up you're the crazy one! It is the most sickening thing to witness because when you see this smirk. You KNOW everything they said was intentional and meant to hurt you. You have to wonder how anyone could operate like this and nobody catches it or says anything about it. You definitely know it when you see it! Trust me!

You: Surprises mil with family member coming for a visit (Over Seas flight...)

Mil: Hears you planned it multiple times, that you tried hard to make the surprise special!
Mil: Runs to son immediately after hearing that and thanks him. With a showy display of hugs and kisses :D
You: Confused but they are typically shitty so whatever (Can't say you didn't try! Right?!)
Husband: Looks at mother says "You know I wasn't the one to put this whole thing together why are you thanking me like this, you know my (Wife) did it!

Mil: Looks at me & goes "Oh really!?" (She already knows it was you but loves to play stupid like this and deliberately ignore the obvious) SOOO... she stands there for a minute looks at you and gives you The Narcissistic "Smirk" and walks out of the room without another word.

At the end of the night (a 4 hour long night in which they only spoke their language in front of you and across you at the dinner table so you were just left sitting there in silence as to not make the family member who just flew HOURS uncomfortable) THATS when she gives you a half assed "Thank you" through her teeth at the door... through you guessed it, The Narcissistic "Smirk"!!!

You: Realize there was never anything that would ever make this woman think you deserve any kind of basic etiquette.
You: No Contact anymore & thriving!
