vector marketing

an evil branch of the cutco company that uses college and high school grad students as fodder to sell its products, via by first pushing the product on to their friends and family by playing the guilt card and eventually if possible friends of friends until they ran out of people. While it is possible to make money by doing this but the grand majority of us won't due to fuel cost and other factors
vector marketing's base play looks awesome but if you really take time and do the math it's not really worth it

marketing

Origin unknown. Purpose unknown. States the obvious, accepts all credit, rejects all blame.

An increasingly common plague found in the work place which causes annoyance and despair in other co-workers. Thrives on board-meetings, dependent on company mobile phones, Outlook, and a considerable yearly budget with no questions asked on how its gets pissed up the wall on nothing. Able to speak but prefers to do any communication through email which is the sole purpose of computers.

Uses any opportunity to voice their opinions and set policy on matters which are none of their concern and to which they have knowledge of. Usually the bane of any Web-Developers existence.

Able to plan projects perfectly without any of the minor concerns such as development or implementation.

Curiously, all Marketing plague-people start as a Manager. There is no lower position available although there is never actually anyone to manage.
see above for example. Be wary of any person who says they are "Marketing". Lose all hope when dealing with a "Marketing Consultant".

marketing machine

The constant, incessant and relentless assult on the senses of the public and individual's alike by the corporate community and/or the government designed to alter, influence and even impair your ability to effect your own unbaised and reasonable needs, wants, and opinions.
1) Modern U.S. corporations spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year to perpetuate the marketing machine in order promote ravenous consumerism to a virtually unchecked capitalistic society that plunders the Earth's resources and harms developing countries.

2) Bush and Cheney employed a massive marketing machine to sell the Iraqi war to the public, promote ongoing fear from 9/11, and shrunk the gap in the separation of church and state in order to get re-elected despite a disasterous 1st term in office.

fractal marketing

Fractal marketing is the process by which a product or service is promoted through modern electronic media and is subsequently picked up and scattered by potential consumers.

Whereas viral marketing presupposes that a consumer is infected with the intended message, fractal marketing reflects that the consumer modifies the message: it's still part of the snowflake's pattern, just a unique piece of it.
An example of fractal marketing would be Apple's Switch campaign of 2002 and Ellen Feiss's subsequently marketed web identity. They are affiliated, they are part of the same pattern, but this outcome could not be predicted by Apple.
