Frankencode

A program or subprogram consisting of bits and pieces of other, possibly unrelated, code that only barely performs its function and is prone to errors. Much like Frankenstein's monster, such code can create havoc in a user's life.

I took pieces from three other programs and stitched together some Frankencode.

Morbid irrational fear of biotechnology and/or its products. Endlessly incited by born-again hippie fundamentalists, who would prefer us all to live like Freddie Flintstone. From Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (an endlessly quoted popular reference) and the suffix -phobia.

Morning Flower is spreading her Frankenphobia around again, telling everyone genetically modified tomatoes are bad for their children.

When are these very very trendy people going to accept that Frankenphobia is soooooo yesterday?

Used in graphic or web design when a client choses to combine elements from two or more distinct visual concepts that do not match.

Designer: "Here are our two concepts."

Client: "We like both. Can we use the navigation from number 1 with the headline area of number 2, and make the logo bigger?"

Designer: "Sure, I'll frankendesign that together."
