When you fart under a blanket and then pull the blanket down, releasing the noxious fumes into the general area.

The benefit of mushroom clouding is that because of the blanket, the fart is frequently muffled or even goes unheard

Originating from a self help book and referenced most in recovery, it refers to the euphoric and joyful feelings often of an over confident and positive outlook ignoring the reality and major obstacles to come. Often short lived leading to falling hard.

John has removed all parts of his life including his friends pretending like none of it even happened. He's obviously pink clouding.
