Not what it is said to be normally. It is overused, abused, and damaged but in the end, it is still there. Love is a committment, THE committment to be with someone for forever, no matter what happens, no matter who comes along. It is more than just a feeling. It is a part of our souls.

I love her/him, and will wait for marriage to have sex with them. I will never leave them.

1) In the modern term of the word, love could mean several things. One, is the facade to trick someone into thinking that you matter to them when in truth, you are just another person and not anyone special. This is mostly used amongst teenagers. When humans mature, they start to realize that "love" is more complicated than that. Another variation is yet again a facade, however, this one is used by older teenagers just so that they can have sexual intercourse with another human. Very rarely is there an exception today.

2) The old fashioned term of the word has been lost in the translation. It was once a special word to describe how you felt about one special person, who you seemingly could not live without. This is the term that is used in marriages (even this term is losing its effect in matrimony).

#1 example)
Bob: "That wasn't very nice Peggy-Sue..."
Peggy-Sue: "Oh come one. You know i love you."

#2 example)
John: "Marsha, I love you and want to live the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
Marsha: "Oh, of course John. I love you too."

the most overated emotion of all, especially when the feeling is not returned by those whom one loves. General syptoms include
1. butterflies which make one want to spew
2. fear of loosing the loved one
3. saddness if the feeling is not returned
4. Insane happiness if feeling is returned
The later two usually result in extreme behavioural changes and general insanity

love may also cause relationship problems with ones friends, as one may begin to ditch their friends to spend time with the loved one

Love is something that is quite confusing. Love is in everyone. Love is confusing, but it's there, people just have to realize it. It's a wonderful feeling, when someone can make you happy. Of course, everything must have an opposite. The person who you love and loves you will do all they can to make you happy and successful. They can break you too, but they'll realize that before they can say anything bad. Love is everywhere. It's in music, words, and actions. Caring for people is love. Being afraid of losing people is love. Love is for everyone, it doesn't matter if they are gay, straight, like incest, etc. As long as they're happy in the end. It is a feeling everyone deserves.

That is the thing we call "love".
