FGM is referred to as female genital mutilation, a procedure involving the removal of the clitoris which has 4 stages
it is not a procedure that "controls" women, it is simply male circumcision done on the female body (less extreme however) , but its seen as worse due to it being done on females. This practice originates is currently being done more in african countries.
