Patriotism

Patriotism, believe it or not, has a Latin stem word, and a Greek suffix. The stem word being "patria", meaning "land of one's fathers" or "fatherland" and the greek suffix "-ism" meaning "the act of" or "state of".

To put these two stems together would equal "the act of... land of one's fathers". Obviously we need to fill in the blank. As you can read above people have many different choices as to what goes into that blank(criticising, disagreeing with).

However, plainly stated, the definition of Patriotism is not up for discussion. and the word that goes into that blank is "love" or "devotion". A strong statement I know, but true. Please do not assume because I use strong words like love and devotion I am trying to conotate this definition, they are simply words, with definitions of their own, that are in the definition of the word patriotism.

Patriotism: n. - the act of loving or showing devotion to one's country.

Let's face it, patriotism is not a political stance or a veiw point. It's an emotion. Just like all emotions, how you choose to display them to the world is entirely up to you.
It is lamentable, that to be a good patriot one must become the enemy of the rest of mankind.

patriots

A douche of a team. They think they're the best, but they can't win them all!
At one time, the Patriots had the longest win streak in the NFL. On Halloween night 2004, the Pittsburgh Steelers shut them down killing their streak at 21.

Patriotic Genius

It means anything the utterer wants it to mean, therefore it doesn't mean anything to anyone. Usually used by idiots
An ex aquaintance of mine has a "fighting for Britain bulldog tattoo thingy on his arm. He's currently stationed at HMP Wandsworth, fighting for Britain. 5 years I believe. I think he's studied for loads of O Levels or whatever they call em now. 24 in total so far I reckon.

A case proven Patriotic Genius if ever there was one.

Patriotic Education

An US public education curriculum devoid of any real criticism of its government or peoples actions during its history. Giving the citizen a false sense of understanding how things came to be and why things are the way they are.

Symptoms include : citizens believe that they truly live in the greatest country in U.S. AND anything other than conservative propaganda media outlet is liberal lies.
When Steven got into college and took US History 101, he was stunned to find out the police used to beat the shit out of MLK during his peaceful protests. His acquaintance Jamal leaned in and said, "yeah you must of gotten that Patriotic Education back home".

Strong patriotism

When a supporter of the 45th U.S. President Donald J. Trump commits an illegal or unethical act solely to advance the agenda of the MAGA movement and under the guise that it’s for patriotic reasons. It’s usually some combination of insurrection, assault, lying, delusion, hate, and anything in between.
Trump: My supporters are about to do some “strong patriotism” at the U.S. Capitol. This election was stolen from us. We’re not going to have a country.
