The downtown area of the city of Chicago. So called because it originally was contained within a "loop" of El tracks. The Loop now extends outside of the El track loop to create the best downtown area on this or any planet.

"The Loop" is the local name for Chicago's downtown area, so named because of the way the city's elevated trains (or el) loops around the area. Also used with directions, such as "North Loop," "South Loop," or "West Loop." There is, however, no "East Loop" because that would put you in Lake Michigan.

The act of drastically exploiting a not-explicitly-forbidden part of a generally well-worded contract; grossly violating the spirit of the law but not the letter. Also, the act of having anal sex and still calling yourself a virgin.

Dick Cheney did some serious loopholing with that whole "it's ok to torture enemy combattants because they're neither soldiers nor civillians" thing.
