a shit word. it means "photograph". a word that the Oxford English Dictionary had as their word of the year, because as a fairly..."sensible" organisation, they wanted to appeal to teenagers and txt speech.
sounds a bit like the word "selfish", which is what quite a lot of social media is all about. "selfie" probably means a photo of you, that you took. but....yeah. or something.

That inevitable picture one changes their profile to once they break up with their SO. There are took types. The really obvious "old selfie", which is normally the best photo the person took in the last 2-5 years, meant to show off that they are still hot (and single). Or the "new selfie" which is obviously taken quickly to replace a profile picture that features the person who they just broke up with.
"I didn't know Zack wasn't dating Mara anymore till I saw his single selfie. That picture is so old."
