The word is used to describe the fallout of an event that affects one or more people in a bad way. Can also be used to accuse someone of spreading lies.

You know when a the shit hit's the fan that's bad right. well if nuclear bombs are detonated at altitude they cause more damage than if detonated at ground level as they affect a wider area because they aren't blocked by buildings. Imagine if you dropped shit on a helicopter at altitude.

Origin: German word for Shit "scheizen" or "Scheiße" in the mother tongue and the word Helicopter.
