Get the Rocklanding mug.rockland county is only about 35 minuets away from the city. north rockland is where i live. north rocland high is pretty big. it has a mix of all different kids from the gangsters of haverstraw to the preps in stoney point and all the kids in the middle from pomona to garniville. theres freaks and geeks and jocks and ghetto gangsters. sports are a big part of north rockland. i dont know about nyack and spring valley because we always seem to win. north rockland is pretty boring all there is to do is chill with your friends and if you dont have any tough shit. half the school is probably stoned every day but who cares. the girls are hot too and thats pretty much all that matters. NOR ROC. theres mad cool kids hate them or love them you gotta live with them.
rockland is a chill spot.

A school with preps, goths, rednecks, "jocks", wiggers, geeks,the drunks, and some normal people. Wherever you walk, you see girls saying "like, what-ev, Oh em gee, I'm cooler than you..Duh." You see guys dressed like they would on halloween, guys that are white acting and dressing like they are black, people running around the school acting physco...geeks with books in their hands at all times. You may see some "clicks".. and the class of 2009 think they're hot shit. You hear about people having sex in teachers class rooms. AKA RM 29. It's a very interesting school.
When you go to Rockland DIstrict High School, you will see everything below...
Preps-the ones that think they're hot shit, but no one likes. Saying dumb stuff like what-ev.. and the examples above.
Goths-the ones that wear all black and dark make-up.. and possibly some are gay.
Rednecks- "Right wicked guy." The ones that look absolutely horrible and talk very annoying.. fishing and lobstering would be their hobby.
"Jocks"-The ones that think they're really good at sports.. and have sex with like everyone.. they also fit into the "drunks". Most of them really aren't that good at sports.. especically if they're from rockland.

Get the rockland district high school mug.A town about 20 miles south of Boston, MA. Used to have a ton of shoe factories but now we're left with a ton of old abandoned ones that make Rockland look ugly. To Duxbury we're pretty much the rug they wipe their muddy shoes on.

Originally home to the Lenape Native Americans, Rockland is rich in history and is home to much more. Over 30% of the county is reserved Park Lands; Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain, Hi Tor, Hook Mountain, Rockland Lake and the widest point of the Hudson River, just to name a few. Well over 300,000 people live and flourish in Rockland due to its vicinity to NYC as well as its thriving communities.
Each of the five towns do their part to conserve the environment and protect local waterways. Rockland school systems are known as some of the best in the country and it is home to over five great colleges. Rockland runs its own line of bus transportation within and outside the county. It is also home to a number of train stations on NJ Transit and Metro-North Railroad as well as a ferry station along the Hudson. It is still home to a number of small family farms and holds dozens of weekly farmers markets. Rockland has its own Baseball Stadium and is home to the Palisades Mall, the eighth largest mall in the USA. Needless to say, Rockland has something for everyone.

Get the Rockland County mug.The reason why Westchester and Long Island are downstate and Rockland is upstate has nothing to do with urbanization or location, but rather historical connection to New York City. The Bronx used to be part of Westchester County until the late 19th century and much of Westchester's nomenclature still exists in the Bronx today; the Eastchester neighborhood used to be part of the present-day Town of Eastchester; there is an Eastchester Bay and Westchester Creek in the Bronx, as well as an Eastchester Road, White Plains Road, and Westchester Square. There is a Town of Pelham in Westchester as well as Pelham Bay Park, Pelham Bay, and Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. Also, there is a Bronx River and Bronx River Parkway running through the Bronx and Lower Westchester. However, by this method Upper Westchester might qualify as upstate because it really is not involved in the Bronx/Lower Westchester history, and has some upstate names (e.g. "-on Hudson","-kill" as in Peekskill).
Nassau County used to be part of Queens and that is apparent based on similar names on both sides of the city line. Little Neck is in Queens adjacent to Great Neck in Nassau County. There's an East Rockaway in Nassau and Far Rockaway in Queens. Also, some towns in Nassau on the Queens border have the same name as the QUeens neighborhoods on the other side, like Floral Park and Bellerose. Furthermore, many zip codes straddle the Queens-Nassau border.
Rockland has none of those. It does not border any borough of NYC nor share any history with it. In fact, Rockland County used to be part of Orange County (which is upstate according to most Rockland County residents) until about 1800. This is why Orangetown is in Rockland County.
