A high schools robotics competition that requires vast amounts of money and supplies to compete in, as the cost of parts is ridiculous to the point that you are wondering why you are spending so much of the schools budget on this instead of flying cars for the students.
Half of the expensive parts you will buy will bend, snap, or get lost or stolen.
Each year there is a new game that teams must compete in that is vaguely similar to the others and requires almost the same skillset and tools.
The rulebook is longer than any textbook you will ever procrastinate reading. Everyone on your team will keep telling you to read it, and you never will.

"Oh no! Our robot is 1/16 of an inch too tall for inspection! I guess we have to shave down the top of it for the next 30 minutes or we won't be able to compete! I love Vex Robotics!"

Get the Roboting mug.Three universal laws created by sci-fi writer Issac Assimov dictating the behavior of robots and other artificially intelligent machines.
1. A robot must not harm a human, or cause a human to be harmed through inaction on the part of the robot.
2. A robot must obey the orders of its human master, unless said order violates law #1.
3. A robot must preserve its existence by any means, as long as said means do not conflict with the first two laws.

Get the laws of robotics mug.The process to which an organism is completely transmuted into an obediant robot slave. The process was originally designed by Sir Charles Hedgehog as a way to cure to ill and grant longevity. However the Roboticizer was sabatoged by Julian Kintobor, resulting in Sir Charles' expulsion from his field of work. Julian, taking the plans for the device, altered and perversed it into a hideous process that would remove ones will and use the robotic body as a laborer completely obedient to Julian. After he siezed power and renamed himself "Robotnik", he roboticized 85% of the capital city, and threatened to do the same to dissenters. The result of this process came the worst tyrannical regime on the face of Mobius.
