a genre of music that is held in low regards by most true metal fans. Nu metal bands are not nessecarily sell-outs or wannabe's, its just the image that is shown by bands such as linkin park, there are how ever nu metal bands that make proper music. A great example of this is Deftones, who played a large part in the pioneering of the genre. One of the few talented nu metal bands left, is a true example of Nu metal

metal that has been around since the 90s infusing metal with other genres of music including such as rap and techno and industrial most nu metal bands include KoRn, SlipKnot, Disturbed, Static-x, Chimaira, Fear Factory despite how what most ppl bad mouth nu metal saying it isnt worthy compared to old skool n thrash metal your right they cannot compete with old skool or thrash metal vut it is still the metal scene of otday n it has contributed a lot to metal culture so all metalheads should be damn proud of nu metal

the newer version of metal, evolution if you will. most of numetal involves heavy screaming, and not much actual singing. numetal generally contains simple riffs, super fast drumming, and above all SCREAMING like a banchee. though not all numetal sucks ass, most of it does, ex. linkin park, limp bizkit, etc. some good numetal bands include papa roach, system of a down, story of the year(kinda sketchy here) and a little bit of slipknot, some of their good songs. in conclusion, numetal is the transformation of old heavy metal to newer rappish/rock stuff.

a term invented by the media to categorize any form of heavy/hardcore/aggressive music that comes from 1990-...
very unpopular with fans of "true" metal from the eighties or "black metal"or anyother kind of music meant for retards who seem to think its hardcore to hate music that sells so instead watch bands stand with their feet planted on stage with their eyes rolled into the back of their head trying to look hardcore
- another "true" form is speed metal which constains high speed drumbeats and alternate picked power chords over monotone "dark" lyrics with a pathetic attempt at singing, but of coarse its considered good because it is not nu-metal
bands such as tool, system of a down, deftones, (which are not metal, they are of far better quality then any metal bands)
are given a hard time by people because of the creation of this false genre regardless of there amazing live performances and unbelievable vocal abilities.
nu metal does not exist, it is horseshit
metal is not original as some claim, the most original and diverse decade of music by far is the 90's enough of this death-hardcore-satanist bullshit coming from these stubborn, whiney, hypocrites

The reason hipsters were born -- in the late '90's, Bizkit and Korn were all the rage. Linkin Park and Staind dominated as well in the beginning of this decade. Since rock stations removed Weezer and Beck off the radio for this garbage, people who used to like rock either turned to online music magazines for guidance or switched to rap instead. Mp3 blogs and internet radio began stealing listeners from rock radio so now, because rock stations play

A genre of music that incorporates hiphop, decks and digital sound to metal music. Not to be confused with thrash or industrial, NuMetal bands tend to be more commercial than their underground counterparts and attract a certain subculture too.
Linkin Park are Nu-Metal.
