The provider of information in universities. If male elbowpatches are traditional (although you do get the occasional 'cool' one in jeans), if female either powersuits or dressing like a hippy. Results of a lecturer talking are as follows:

- roughly one paragraph of notes never to be used
- a quick nap
- a brilliant game of hangman usually more informative than the actual lecture.

"I need a nap before clubbing tonight."

"Yeh me too, which lecturer is it today?"

"Dr D, talking on female rights"

"Nap time it is!"

(also. Lecture-Rant, pronounced Lektcha-rant) An angry lecture that may have an accusatory undertone. A lecture-style scripted performance in which the lecturer consciously speaks truth to power and ignores codes of civility. The word was first introduced at Davidson College (North Carolina) in an event sponsored by the Middle East North Africa Student Association (MENASA).

It wasn't a lecture. It wasn't rant. It was a lecturant.
Perhaps what we need in this postmodern ineptitude is less lectures and more lecturants.
I won't be the subject of your lecturant.

emo-lectual

A specific variety of intellectual; one whose intellectual pursuits (often the reading of modern philosophers) has left them cynical, overly serious, and had a negative impact on their ability to have fun and socialize.

Most emo-lectuals (believing that they "get life" better than others) openly look down on people that are less intelligent or not as well versed in their particular field of interest (ie a particular art-style or said modern philosopher), making it difficult even for other intellectuals to enjoy their company and vice versa.

Intellectual: "What's that you're reading?"
Emo-lectual: "The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, have you read it?"
Intellectual: "No I'm not familiar with it"
Emo-lectual rolls his eyes with a melodramatic sigh and goes back to reading his book, deliberately ignoring Intellectual.

1) Any university section lasting more than 2 consecutive hours on a subject that has no application whatsoever to your life, education or universe.

Believed to have come from students talking about a professor "powering" through a lecture.

"Ugh, I have a power lecture at eleven"
