Newfangled term used by the ever increasing hoard of subverted degenerates on social media who are too retarded to use the actual term.
Correct term is actually PM (private messaging) because messages are private.

"hey, i sent you PMS did you get them?"

"hey, i sent you DMS did you get them?"
