Short for "Brotha Tones", which is a much needed term for the backup vocal parts in newer rap/hip hop music which mostly consist of short rhythmic repetition of words like "Hey", "What?", "Yo" etc. These are used to accentuate the beat and sometimes lends to syncopation, generally making the song more dance-able.

It has created many common phrases in New Zealand such as Morning Side 4 Life!, Peyow, Peyow!, and I'm going to the pub, I may be some time... It also takes the piss out of F.O.B pronounciations of English such as 'Peer' for 'Beer'
