Wuhan

Birthplace of the Republic of China which led to overthrowing China's last autocracy until ~40 years later Chinese Communist Party invaded, undoing all the efforts for China to have a democracy system that's be stronger than the West's. Republic of China national day is held on October 10 annually to commemorate 1911 Wuchang Uprising in Wuhan. This is what Wuhan should be known for: birthplace of the first and only Chinese democracy in history. Wuhan was also original contender for ROC capital which ultimately went to Nanjing until communist invasion resulted in Taipei becoming de facto capital. Wuhan today is known for its punk music scene and best breakfast food in China
