horror floor

Thought exercise used to define realistic parameters of a given situation or event. The individual creates a horror floor by taking a scientific method type approach to their situation/event, analyzing the pros and cons, and defining the true worst possible outcomes in a non-pessimistic or biased manner. Much like the 'glass ceiling', which limits positive growth in talented individuals but exists and is enforced by the mind , the 'Horror Floor' is an exercise in the reverse direction. By defining the real worst possible outcomes, the individual creating their horror floor can find solid footing to begin the assessment of challenging situations without giving in to bottomless and reasonless despair.

You fail (test/deadline/important responsibility) and feel terrible. It was paramount that you not fail, and your self-esteem takes a big hit. You begin to doubt what you know about yourself now that you have broken one of your most personal edicts. You then take a deep breath and carefully consider the ramifications of your failure, and consider their real impact on your life and how dire or trivial the end results are without bias or pessimism. You define and accept where and how you failed, while consciously addressing what other tools or resources you have that can remedy your situation. You keep in mind the limits of the consequences of your failure without allowing them to consume you and prevent you from utilizing the rest of your resources to build new foundations that will prevent you from future failure. By defining where the limits of your failure reach and the nature of said failure and consequences, you create your "horror floor", which serves as a foundation to limit the 'bottomless' sensation of emotional/intellectual despair.

horror punk

Another term for fiendcore and monster rock; a subgenre of punk with bands and songs defined by classic horror movies, murder, and other gruesome or grotesque themes of a horrific nature.

The only horror punk CD's the record store had were of Balzac and Misfits.

horror punk

A Genre of punk started in the early 70's by a man named Glenn Danzig with his punk band the misfits. Catagorized by love for things of macabre nature. Usually dead things. Often mis catagorized with horrorbilly and deathrock. The genre is generally underground but holds several succesful shows each year the most noteable in Germany. Although many people who listen to this type of punk are not considered TRUE punks. Most will listen to The Misfits before moving on to something else. A pick up in the genre with recent pop-punk or emo bands has casted a bad image on the genre. You can usually tell a horror punk by the trademark devilock.

Horror Punk

"horror punk is what you get when you combine long-hair, angry teenagers', and Night Of The Living Dead t-shirts, or anything with zombies, werewolves, vampires, etc.. Usually listening to The Misfits, Murderdolls, and The Undead.

"let's go watch Dawn Of the Dead, listen to the Misfits, and spank off to our awesome horror punk idols like the whole band of the Misfits!"

There is much more to horror punk then that. It is a sub culture that was started in the 70s by a band named the Misfits. It deals mostly with old black and white b rated horror movies. Its ghost storys with music to it.

Horror Trip

When something so terrifying scares the living hell out of you, even after the experience you are still in shock for a long period of time.

Guy1: I was walking home one night when I saw a hobo with a mask across the street. He started following me the way home, and when I looked back behind me, he wasn't there. I was paranoid the whole way home that even a car passing by me scared the balls out of me.

Guy2: Dude, that's one bad Horror trip.
