A person that studies or writes about the methods, meanings and materials used in outdoor cooking- including the use of fire and wood smoke and its affects the taste, texture and appearance of food as well as its meaning in different cultures at different time periods.

We met a famous bbqologist who has written 2 books about bbq history and has won many awards.

Not a good answer apparently

Hym "So 'I'm not a biologist' is not a good answer... But you're willing to give her the right not to answer... But where they go too far is celebrating her for her position...
