The second decade of the 21st century, lasting between 2010 and 2019.
There were certainly a lot of problems with this era (specifically its latter half), particularly regarding political divisiveness and the oversaturation of "pop politics" in general. However, while these issues could rarely be totally avoided, at the end of the day they were easy to distract yourself from if you prioritized living your life.
By contrast, the 2020s thus far have been characterized by a global pandemic and its effects on our lives. Unlike the issues found in the 2010s, these ones are nearly impossible to avoid due to the fact that most of the resources we utilized in the 2010s to live our lives either ended temporarily or permanently, or became associated with danger and recklessness.
While the 2010s were a highly imperfect decade, they were very liveable and generally had more positives than negatives, especially compared with the 2020s so far. As such, the 2010s will for a long time be seen as the last decade of comfort and normalcy.

Back in the 2010s I could go to restaurants, events, etc. to make myself feel better if life got too overwhelming. In 2020 most of these resources didn't exist, and even now they are less accessible and less associated with relaxation than they were in the 2010s.

Get the The 2010s mug.The culture of the 2010s. It is mostly remembered for its movies, TV shows, slang, memes, celebrities, video games, music, etc. Many people however consider the popular culture of the 2010s to be absolutely godawful. This was a time where popular music started devolving, people were using dorky slang words like 'swag', 'yolo', 'bae', 'thot', 'selfie', etc., sagging, too much political correctness, SJWs, special snowflakes, edgelords, fake celebrities who didn't deserve their fame, Americans electing Donald Trump, internet/social media obsession, flat earthers, horrendous memes, and many, many more.
But on the brightside there were many other good things about the culture. There was still some memorable and iconic media and it was mostly a time where people learned things faster because of the internet advancing, but they were still too obsessed with it and were always glued to their phones.

Imagine 30 years from now when we all look back on 2010s culture. How are we even gonna explain some of this stuff to our children? Lol. Some memes, songs, shows and slang words are gonna age terribly and I have a feeling the 2010s will be remembered as a very cheesy decade.

Get the 2010s kid mug.The state of the internet during the 2010s decade. This was during a time where the internet was starting to get more prominent and advanced (even more so than in the 1990s or 2000s). This was also during a time where memes started getting more mainstream, online gaming was getting more popular and more people started using more technologically advanced devices like the iPhone, Android, etc. (no one could shoot a video on their own phones back in 2004. But thanks to modern internet and technology that's possible now).
But it's also known for being a time where people got too obsessed with the internet and technology, where they would always stay glued to their phones and not take a break from being online too much. That's not good because the more you surf the web, the more sick stuff you'll eventually run into.
The most notable websites of the 2010s include Instagram, Musical.ly, and Snapchat.

Originally the web back then was used as an escape from the real world. But now thanks to 2010s internet, the real world is an escape from the web.
