“…if want something done, ask a woman”

“…if want something done, ask a woman” — the entire quote is: “If you want something said ask a man; and if you want something done, ask a woman.”

This quote was used with great effect by Niki Haley during the 2023 Surrender Day Eve Republican debates.

The only woman on stage, she used this saying to attack the “Demi-masculine MAGA boys” surrounding her.

Haley herself attributed this saying to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher; and Harley’s delivery was flawless and absolutely castrating!

Seven men probably checked for their ball-sacks after leaving the stage they shared with Haley — except for the Miami Mascot, Ron DeSantis, who has already been neutered by Donald Trump

…in that good way!

…in that good way! — An expression used by the character William Knifeman in the ground breaking series Reservation Dogs.

This series was to First Nation Native Americans in the 2020’s what Roots was to Black Americans in The 1970’s in terms of stellar prime time representation of a major ethnic cast with a positive representation of cultural love; and cultural self-awareness,

A sprit, William Knifeman would appear riding a horse. He is a trickster figure who asks more questions then offering answers; and, he is inevitably at turns both hilarious and heartbreaking.

He once blessed a Sonic tater tot by asking it to protect and nourish the body of the character that was eating it and to help with cholesterol …in that good way.

A most infectious saying!!!!!

This series is perfect for a Sankofa viewing and is best watched in a circle. One you finish all four seasons of Reservation Dogs, immediately watch it again as though you were reading Finnigans Wake.

The story of a people never ends, it continues in a cycle…in that good way.

And representation matters!

Mvto!!!!!
You can’t hold in your joy or your pain. You have to offer them both into the circle of your people — all of your relations…in that good way! Then the circle can never be broken. Aho!

…made my nature rise

…made my nature rise — a past tense description of one’s self having had your psyche confronted by a person, event, timing or situation P.E.T.S. that brings out an unknown aspect of your personality.

The experience is most likely caused by interacting with another person; but, events, timings and situations can also make you discover aspects of yourself.

The precipitating cause can be a structures; broken boundaries; acquisition of power or it’s relinquishment; love or hate; clear articulation of a desire; or, deep self-honesty. Once the behavior has become concrete this new information about yourself must be integrated into your personality.

This phrase entered popular culture during the first disco era between 1972 and 1976 through the Four Tops Song: Catfish, a dance track about a woman with whom dancing — and by extension sex — was really enjoyable. Part of the refrain was “…Catfish makes my nature rise”.

Nope — no sexual overtones there! Subtlety was not a watchword of the 1970’s.
Here are ways of using “…made my nature rise” in a sentence:

1) Being in danger made her nature rise. She did not think of herself as heroic but when she was menaced in the streets, she was able to fight off her attacker and leave identifiable makes on his face that led to his capture.

2)Being in the water had always made her nature rise; but, it had never consciously occurred to her that having sex in a hot tub with the possibility of both being seen and heard would bring out the “YEP!!!!” in her, Now every time she smells coconut oil her skin gets warm.

3) Being tied up made her nature rise. She did not consciously think of herself as “submissive” but when she found herself hogtied over a barstool helpless, passive, flogged and probed; she learned something new and unexpected about herself.

…and there you have giraffes!

An “oh well” type response to when another person cannot figure out the answer to a completely simple response to what seems like a complicated question, that in turn must be clarified by the enquirer in the final outcome. Resulting in this phrase.
Enquirer: Do you know the sound a giraffe makes?
Answerer: remains quiet and confused
Enquirer: That’s okay, I looked it up, and it said, a low-bleeting sound, kind of like a sheep. Ready to try it?
Answerer: BAAAA
Enquirer: …and there you have giraffes!
