Overthrust

When an author/writer intends to write a fight scene, but in the end it just sounds like yaoi.

I read this book the other day:

"Monokan spun around and discharged a massive wave towards his foe. Quickly thinking, Mike retracted his blade and re-posed himself. Just before the bolts hit him, Mike fired his own lightning attack."

"Mike jumped to his feet and charged another heat beam and blasted it right at Monokan just as he stood up. Monokan tried to block the attack, but it enveloped him. Mike reignited his blade and turned back."

it was full of overthrust, I couldn't finish the whole thing.

overtize

The act of making something overt which desperately needs to be exposed, but which probably wouldn't be otherwise. Overtizing can be accomplished through the creative arts, such as literature, in which it is called "exposition", or even through the visual arts, where, for example, closet racists can be depicted as Nazis, shouting oppressive messages -- which they would probably never overtly do in real life, but instead actually do hold such agendas.

Though it had long been admitted by an honest few that the governor had close ties to the mob, it took an overtized image of him wearing a pin-stripe suit and brass knuckles to break the ice and motivate public honesty about the truth.

Overtime territory

Commonly used in hockey, overtime territory is when a game is tied, late in the third period, and the team who scores to take the lead is almost guaranteed to win. There is so little time left in regulation, it is virtually impossible for the team that falls behind to tie the game again.

The Devils and Kings are in overtime territory, tied 1-1 with 30 seconds left in the 3rd.

Used to define the excessive use of a person (usually a celebrity)'s name in society, to the point that it becomes agitating to hear that name. Named after 2017 US President Donald Trump.

Jeez, If I hear one more thing about Kim freaking Kardashian I'm gonna flip!

When an idea, statement or concept does not require an explanation of its meaning.
