Caplan's approach to his argument is more general than Kim's perspective. He uses his own personal experiences to make a case of why higher education might not be the best decision for everyone. He supports breaking out of a system and having options. His final piece in his argument is that access to education means nothing if students are not learning what they need and want.

He gives pros and cons to both viewpoints. He makes sure to incorporate extra curricular activities, and basic scientific research.
