2000 mules

A reference to the mules given out to the slaves freed at the end of the civil war along with the 30 acres of land per slave. Used by opponents of reparations' for African Americans in the U.S.A.

This, however, is not absolutely necessary for one to earn the rank of Heat Mule.

40 Acres and a mule

Used as a response to a promise that will obviously not be kept. After the Civil War, the U.S. government promised freed slaves “40 acres and a mule” as part of land redistribution plans under General William T. Sherman’s Special Field Order No. 15.

"Didn't you hear? They're going to forgive everyone's student loan debt"
"Yeah, 40 acres and a mule too".
