tapes n tapes

an alternative rock / pop band, often described as indie, that spread to fame on the back of demos hosted on a blog. spread between indie kids in a matter of weeks, and by the time i discovered them through their debut LP 'The Loon' they were 'old.'

damn indie kids, they work too fast and i cant keep up.

tapes n tapes are refreshing, albeit a bit similar to other bands that i wont mention for sake of flaming.

regardless, The Loon is a fantastic album and the band is deserving of the hype.

mixed tape

A compilation of songs (traditionally on a cassette tape, though CDs are acceptable) that one makes for oneself or another, normally a boy or girl they like. Fine examples of mixed tapes have liner notes and a snappy title. Some fools say: mix tape or mixtape but this is clearly wrong as you have mixed a tape for your or another's enjoyment.

"Here Nate, I made you this mixed tape over Christmas break."
"Oh you mean you made me a mix tape?"
"Never mind, I don't like you anymore."

Hairstyle popularized by URBAN teens in the 5 boroughs of new york. Then later copied poorly and taken credit by suburban teens mainly in Long Island and New Jersey. The hairstyle consists of a very light fade rising from the bottom of the sideburns and back of the neck. This allows for all sorts of different styles with the hair on top, very popular is the blow out. The blow out is where the hair on top is pulled in all directions to get spikes in all directions..
