cliff effect

The cliff effect is when a digital signal (music/photo/video) 'falls off a cliff' when it fades out because the receiver can no longer tell which part of the wave is a digital 1 or 0, and there are more errors than can be corrected. The output of analog signals will get worse and worse in quality as it fades out and fail gracefully. This is especially a problem with digital cell phones because, rather than getting a more staticky call, it just drops the call completely.

A scratched vinyl LP record will still play, though at reduced quality while a CD will suffer the cliff effect when even so much as a fingerprint gets on it.

Describes the act of disposing of one member of a canon (fictional) relationship, usually through quick and non-descriptive means, in order to pair the remaining character with another character. Used often to justify non-canon (relation)ships.

"Did you read that one Elsanna fanfic? The author had Kristoff insult Anna's parents, causing Anna to break up with him. I'm a fan of Elsanna, but that way of breaking them up seems really out of character."

cliffilis

a sexually transmitted disease that is contracted by either having sex or getting too comfortable with someone named Cliff. In rare cases, people have contracted the disease by merely sitting on his bed. Side effects include hatred for the particular Cliff and an intensified gag reflex when around anything that brings up memories of said Cliff. Sadly, there is no clue for the disease, but it is not able to be passed on by anyone except someone named Cliff.

I slept in Chris' roommate's bed last night and got Cliffilis.
