a person who evades his or her duty or work insomuch as responsibility is avoided but competence and success are not foregone.

My college roommate is a a half-slacker: he rarely completes homework assignments, but he attends lectures and performs adequately on exams.

Someone who is readily suitable for any endeavor, but is too self aware to ever leave his house. A mental block that most commonly affects teen-aged through middle-aged men (and some women) who face anxiety when leaving their house. See also: herb.

Senior slack

The general state of laziness experienced by seniors in high school. It often occurs near the end of the school year when their remaining time is essentially pointless, as many have already been accepted into colleges/universities. It is accompanied by a lack of studying, caring, or effort.

Junior: Aren't you going to study for your calculus test tomorrow?

Me: Nah, senior slack has hit me hard. You'll get the feeling next year...
