an individual who experiences romantic or sexual attraction to children. That does not mean, however, that they have or would ever act on their feelings and harm anyone.

Also, they do not choose to be this way; the preference is inborn in the same way that being straight or gay is.

Albert: "Did you know that most pedophiles/MAPs don't assault children?"
George: "Well, of course! Most people in general don't assault people who they are attracted to. And most sexual abusers of children aren't pedophilic."
Albert: "Are you telling me pedophiles are usually actually ethical human beings who recognize that rape is wrong, just like almost everyone else on the planet?"
George: "Yes, exactly! And they don't choose and cannot change being attracted to children, so we shouldn't bully them for it."
Albert: "Yeah, I guess it's like how people can't change their skin color or gender or sexual orientation. It's not their fault."

pedaphile

Any individual who is interested in establishing a mutual sexual relationship with a person who is of a physically younger age.

The World Health Organization defines adolescence as the period of life between 10 and 20 years of age. With this said any one who sexually interacts with some one else in this age range is in the "instinctual norm", if you well. Therefore the deviation into pedaphile begins when the 10’s & 20’s and the 30’s & 40’s engage in sexual activities. As you can see it is virtually impossible for anyone with a logical frame of mind to be apposed to the act of this definition!
