Nostalgic Desperation

When bands get forgotten about and become obsolete, so they get back together for "one more tour"... maybe release an album that doesn't hold up.

You'll buy the album and you'll go to the concert... that's when you realize it isn't ever going to be the way you remember.
I had to face the nostalgic desperation of Jane's Addiction getting back together, releasing an album, doing a tour and still not being as great as they used to be.

nostalgism

A political strategy that runs campaigns and appeals to voters based on an idealized and pleasant image of the past, often adopting policy that emulates that past. This happens when the party or politician has little substance of their own and hides behind nostalgia to cover up something else, like corruption.
JOZEF: Many Slovak politicians espouse a mix of economically left-wing and culturally right-wing beliefs.

FERO: It's because their primary voter demographic is older generations. Those guys grew up during a socialist economy and aren't so culturally progressive. They miss those days.

DEŽO: That's called nostalgism.

nostalgac

New word I created: nostalgac

It means a deep emotional longing for the past — the feeling of nostalgia and being nostalgic combined into one word.

Example: Francis felt nostalgac watching old cartoons.

Noshtalgia

An aching or yearning triggered by a rediscovery of a once-loved foodstuff. From, 'Nosh' (vulgar term for food) and 'algia' (ache or pain).
I was struck with noshtalgia when a fleeting fishy whiff as my girlfriend walked past took me back to favourite school snack of Scampi Nik-Naks.!
