PRONOUNCIATION: Pal-ee-Oh-ta-ku (n)

An individual that is a dedicated fan of Japanese animation(Anime) originating mostly from the late 1970's to early/mid 1990's. Sometimes referred to as the "golden age" of anime.

Known for telling tales of going to weekend gatherings to chain VCRs together to obtain new media sourced from Japan on VHS, Beta or Laser Disc formats. Some would become pen pals with fans in Japan, and trade video cassettes of North American shows for original Japanese programs.

A PaleOtaku may still have a large collection merchandise(books and collectibles) and/or media(Laser Discs and Compact Discs) from to era. Along with retro play back technology to view them on.

They will still watch newer media and updated remakes, but will always as special affinity for the "classics"
