I work in a hospital. Over the years, I have noticed the Human Resources director expresses himself using the same old, tired phrases. Then my boss started using them! Such as, it is what it is, instead of giving me an answer to my question. Instead of saying "I talked to so and so, it is ALWAYS, "I touched base". "Reach out" is just texting somebody. The worst is " I shared that with so and so". I feel like I should say, Thanks for Sharing!

"Freedom to Speak" is the way to say "Freedom of Speech" which makes more sense because it encourages people to speak more than when that right and freedom are called the "Freedom of Speech."
"Freedom of Speech" is a way of wording the "freedom to speak" in a way that distances the speaker(s) from the act. Humans do not "speech," they speak and can give a "speech." Calling that freedom the "Freedom to Speak" encourages people to speak more often and for longer swaths of time than when it is called the "Freedom of Speech." It is time to start using the expression which encourages Americans to SPEAK UP more. " God is in the details."

Chat speak is largely used on the internet, in text messages, in notes passed in class, and sometimes in spoken speech. In its most basic essence, chat speak is a thorough mutilation of the English language, created by teenagers who refuse to learn said language.
Beware of chat speak users. If a person is too lazy to learn the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma." and "lets eat grandma" they are probably too lazy to understand that it is wrong to actually eat one's grandmother.

Two examples of chat-speak are:
why cant we just all start singing the world would be so much funnier if people just started singing
VS.
Why can't we all just start singing? The world would be so much more entertaining if people just started singing.
& (used above)
lets eat grandma
VS.
Let's eat, Grandma.
