Do not mistake for the popular book series and movie franchise Dune. A combination of the words goon and doom. To doon is to go on social media and spiral about all the horrible shit going on in the world for hours on end. Like a goon-sesh, in which one watches porn incessantly for hours on end, except if you replaced the porn with a bunch of news about all the awful political shit that is going on right now. Basically, doom-scrolling to the point of a mental spiral, edging yourself with depressing shit online until you can't take it anymore.
