emos are just a bunch of silver-spoon-fed, spoiled, middle-class teenagers who act like they're "sooo different" from everybody else because they shop at fucking hot topic and because they don't listen to britney spears (note: i dont like her either and im not emo!!). they hate their lives because they're parents won't get them a new cell phone, and cry themselves to sleep because they're 14 and they're not in love with anybody yet. they pretend to be gay because its "different", not because they are actually homosexual. they spend more than half of their teenage lives on myspace; making it "cool" and "original", even though it just makes them look pathetic. the boys look like fucking girls, and the girls look like dikes. their hair takes up their whole face and they wear tons of eyeliner that makes them look like they have two empty sockets in their head(note: only 2D can pull that off cuz his eyeballs are pushed back into his head). they think they're vampires. and what i think is the weirdest thing of all, they used to love their lives until they started listening to "My Chemcial Romance".

Get the Emo mug.People who follow the emotional hardcore music scene. Emo is a shortening of emotional and in most cases refers to the style of music. Many people beleive that all emos cut themselves, this is not true. Yes, some emos cut themselves but so do some goths, punks and people who don't follow a particukar trend. Admittedly self harmers do seem drawn to the emo scene but this doesn't mean all emos self harm, most just dress and listen to music to try to seperate themselves from the herd.
Self harming is an act commited by people who either beleive they need punishment, find some releif from emotion through physical pain or suffer from low self esteem. I used to be emo, I cut myself once or twice but only as a response to the constant ridiculing I was subject to.

Chav: Hey, emo kid! Do you slit your wrists?
Emo: Not all emos do ya know *shows wrists with no
cuts* Do you see anything?
Chav: Yeah, I see you're an emo!
Chavs group: Emo! Emo!
*Chav and large group of friends laugh hysterically and emo leaves*

Get the Emo mug.An Emo is not neccesarily a cut-up teenager with died hair and slit wrists. Emo just stands for emotionaly unstable. However, emo is also a kind of music and emos listen to emo music a lot of the time. The majority of them are also depressed, wear similar clothes, have certain hairstyles.
She was happy and hyper but then a little thing set her off and she had a temper tantrum and goes crazy like screaming and hitting. Then she went really moody and wouldn't come out of her room for 3 days. Now she is really happy and being very well behaved. What an emo!

Get the Emo mug.Emo does have to do with emotional. Mostly teens are emo. If their life is depressing, and they cut themselves (especially in wrists), they are considered emo. Just because someone wears black, dark make-up, has hair in their face, and wears skinny jeans does not make them emo. Emos are people too. They are not always depressed, they don't listen to all hardcore music, and they don't cut themselves 24/7. They do have lives. Emos usually only tell very close friends that they cut, they don't blab it to everyone to make everyone feel sorry for them. So if someone is telling everyone that they cut, then they are just doing that for pity.

Get the Emo mug.To me, emo is a word used inappropriately too much these days.
Everyone has their own definition on emo, but really emo can mean alot of different things.
Emo - A kind of music that originated from Hardcore Punk.
But what i think an emo PERSON is, it is someone who is emotional, someone who is emotional about what is happening and what they do, they are a person, not a creature from outta space. They use very touching and "emotional" words, and they care.
Emo, does not mean "wrist cutter" a wrist cutter is someone with problems, someone who has to figure out their life.
Most people judge others they have never met, rather it be they see them in the city or at school if they wear wrist bands, have a side fringe with black hair and they wear lots of black and make up they instantly think "Whoa look at that sad emo!" then go and tell their friends, without even knowing the person.
I know alot of people that dress like the above and they are the happiest people ever and i can not imagine them slitting their wrists to "hawthorn heights" or "Dashboard confessional", It's all just a big label.
If you wanna know what emo is, its basecly a word used too much to describe people that other people have never met.

Get the Emo mug.Ok, I really want to get this straight. The ORIGINAL definition of "emo" can be broken down like this:
"Emo" is short for "emotive hardcore," or "emotional harcore." The word "hardcore" is referring to hardcore punk music. Emo is a form of hardcore punk music, although after different "waves" of emo coming and going through the years, there are still some bands that differ from the original emo music that can still be defined as emo.
NOW-
the word "emo" is being used to describe the current sub-culture of the supposed genre of music that is emo, although this current subculture is often found not to listen to real emo music. It is actually true that the original subculture of emo looked completely different from what our perception is now.
Just because somebody dresses or looks "emo" doesn't mean that they cut themselves and act sad all the time. And if they do, it's not always necessarily to get attention. Depression is a real thing and should be taken seriously.
"Emo" kids should be given the same respect that is given to any other kind of person, because we are all people and deserve equal treatment, regardless of how we look and what music we listen to.

Get the Emo mug. Here's a REAL, NON-STEREOTYPED definition of the word "Emo".
What is emo? Most people view emo as a type of person. Someone who cuts themselves, hates the world, and wears tight clothing. Others view emo as a genre of music including bands such as Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At the Disco. Most people use emo to describe what is really called scene.
What does the word emo mean? Most people believe emo is short for emotional, as in an emotional person or emotional music. Others believe it’s short for emotional hardcore.
Emo cannot mean emotional because then everything would be emo. Everything has emotions- all music, all people. Emo would become an all-encompassing, very vague, word that could be used to describe many things.
The term emo is short for emotive hardcore. It was first used by the members of Rites of Spring in a 1985 interview in Flipside Magazine. Emo is not popular, and there are no mainstream emo bands. You will not hear emo on the radio.
Hopefully this will set everybody straight. **Source!: www.emotivehardcore.com**
