UrbanDictionary is a joke, not ONE of the definitions of this word includes the origin, so here we are. Yes, it is used to express enthusiasm for something that happened, but the reason is because it is a variant of "pog" which stands for "play of the game." As in, that was the best thing that happened in this match.

I just pogged this definition.
